What is NCDS?

N.C. Divorce School is an internet company that offers on-line courses that teach people how to handle their own simple divorce cases in North Carolina.

What is an online course?

A course that is offered via the internet which means they are available anywhere that you have internet access.

What is the difference between what you offer and what is offered by other on-line divorce websites?

NCDS has three unique advantages over other on-line services:

1.      There are lots of places to go on-line to get divorce papers. But, there is more to getting divorced than printing out the forms. 

2.      We teach you to prepare the forms and walk you step-by-step through filing them and getting your divorce finalized. 

3.      We customize our courses to each of the 100 counties in NC. So, whether you file your action in Murphy or Manteo or any county between, we can provide the help you need.

Can anyone enroll in N.C. Divorce School?

Yes.  Our on-line courses are available to anyone who is willing to accept our terms of use. You can download a copy here.

Who are the courses offered at N.C. Divorce School designed to help?

N.C. Divorce School is designed to assist people who meet the following criteria:

1.      You or your spouse has lived in N.C. for at least 6 months.

2.      You have a North Carolina work or home address for your spouse.

3.      Neither you nor your spouse own any stocks, bonds, annuities or other financial assets that will need to be divided.

4.      Neither you nor your spouse own any real property in North Carolina.  Or, if you or your spouse own real property there is no dispute as to who is going to get it.

5.      Neither you nor your spouse have any alimony claims.  Or, if there are alimony claims there is no dispute as to who gets it and how much they will get.

6.      Neither you nor spouse own any real property outside of North Carolina that needs to be divided.

7.      Neither you nor spouse own pension, retirement or 401k benefits that need to be divided.

                       

Do you need an advanced degree to successfully complete a NCDS course?

You don’t need a college degree to successfully complete our courses. Our courses use plain English and are designed specifically for people with no legal training or background.

Where do classes take place?

NCDS’s online courses take place wherever your computer is: at home, at work, on the road- anywhere you can connect to the internet.

When do the classes meet?

Technically there are no class times. You can log onto the system whenever it is convenient for you, at anytime , day or night to take a course or part of a course. You don’t have to be online at a set time of the day.

Who teaches the courses at NCDS?

All of our courses are created and administered by Jackie Stanley, a licensed North Carolina attorney.

Can I download the courses and take the off-line?

All of our course materials are on-line, web-based courses which are only available through the internet. The courses cannot be downloaded and taken off-line. They are not available in any offline format.

Do I need to buy books or additional course materials?

There are no books or additional course materials to purchase. All of the forms needed to complete your divorce action are included with the course.

How much time do I get to complete the course?

Your initial tuition fee will allow you to have access to the course for 30 days. If you need additional time, you can do so by paying an additional fee.

What if I have questions about the course?

Each course includes a forum which allows you to post any questions you may have about the contents of the course material. Your questions will be answered by a licensed attorney. The fee for this service is included in your tuition.

What if I need help deciding what course I should enroll in?

What additional services do you offer?

Should I enroll in NCDS if I plan to hire an attorney?

Whether you use a lawyer or not, enrolling in N.C. Divorce School can provide insight into how the legal system works.

What is your refund policy?

We stand by the courses we offer. If you have grounds for divorce, take a course, follow the instructions and your divorce is not granted then we will refund your money.  It’s that simple.
